Bayer AG Trasylol (Aprotinin Injection) is a drug used during surgery to prevent blood loss. The FDA has linked Trasylol to a higher risk of major side effects, such as kidney problems, heart attacks and stroke, primarily in patients who have undergone bypass surgery.

The FDA limited Trasylol usage in 2006 due to a high risk of kidney damage. Studies of Trasylol have shown that the drug increases both in-hospital mortality and long-term mortality among patients that have undergone bypass surgery.
